Dear School Board Representative, We urge you to support the implementation of Ethnic Studies as a graduation requirement at the Coachella Valley Unified School District. As elected officials, you can help maintain our district’s vision by ensuring that our students are prepared to graduate, and attend college, as critical thinkers, with an understanding of various cultural and social issues. The implementation of Ethnic Studies as a graduation requirement benefits our students and our school district.

The foundation of the current public education system is outdated and is long overdue for progressive change. The inclusion of curriculum/courses, which studies have found to have significant outcome on student success, warrants the attention and approval of the Coachella policy makers (i.e., the Board). Such approval will lend the opportunity to validate what has been shown to be student success effective at school districts and post-secondary institutions. Progressive leadership will make necessary and sound decisions.
