Ethnic Studies Now

AB 1460 CSU Petition

We, the undersigned, support Assembly Member Shirley Weber's AB 1460 to enact legislation that would require California State University students at all 23 CSU campuses to complete one 3-unit course in ethnic studies in order to graduate.

    Ethnic Studies is an essential part of being a well educated person. All students need to know about the struggles to reimagine a racially just world. They need the tools to analyze systemic racism, colonialism and occupation by colonizers.


    Include Arab American Studies and Palestine as an integral component of any Ethnic Studies program

    We need AB1460 because we need academically rigorous Ethnic Studies courses based in the research and theory of the past 50 years of this academic field. There is no substitute for scholarship and solid theoretical foundations. Other versions of these classes will not be equivalent.
